What & Where: Pemakod, the King of Hidden Lands is regarded as one of the most sacred places in the world, where Guru Padmasambhava's blessings radiate and where any accumulation of merit is said to multiply many times over. This holy land is described in Ian Baker's book "The Heart of the World," and this part of Pemakod is located in the extreme northeast region of India, in the state of Arunachal Pradesh. It is a region largely untouched by the outside world.
Deden Tashi Choeling is a Temple in the form of the Copper-Colored Mountain ("Zangdok Palri"), with its complete contents and surrounding facilities. The Temple was long-envisioned by many great masters, and was finally completed in January 2013. Deden Tashi Choeling Temple is the first ever of its kind in this part of the sacred Hidden Land of Guru Padmasambhava.
The Temple is a place where new generations of Dharma practitioners can gather together, to practice and learn from one another, and where all those who sincerely aspire to practice Holy Dharma in Pemakod may come to receive precious teachings and engage in pure practice for the benefit of all beings. Since the time of Togden Kunzang Longdrol (Tulku Orgyen P'huntsok's former incarnation), all of the traditions that Togden established for group practice on a monthly and annual basis have been faithfully maintained by his disciples.
Today, Lama Rigdzin P’huntsok – a close disciple of Togden's and a highly respected lama who is also Tulku Orgyen’s father – uninterruptedly leads these practices along with other lamas.
Tulku Orgyen Phuntsok Rinpoche. At a young age, Tulku Orgyen P'huntsok was recognized by H.H. Dudjom Rinpoche as the reincarnation of Togden Kunzang Longdrol, a close heart disciple of H.H. Dudjom Rinpoche. Tulku spent his early years in retreat and studying all aspects of Buddhism at his temple in Pemakod. At the age of 15, he began higher studies in southern India at Namdroling Monastery. Tulku completed the nine-year Khenpo degree and taught Buddhist philosophy during his final three years at the Monastery. Since 1999, Tulku has served as the Spiritual Director of Vairotsana Foundation Santa Barbara, and as Director of the Pemakod Project. Recently, Tulku changed the name of the Pemakod Project to Pemakod Dharma Wheel. For the reasons why, please read this.
